I have been a lifelong San Francisco Bay Area resident.

I was born in San Francisco and raised in the North Berkeley hills.  I have been teaching and performing professionally throughout the greater bay area and beyond for over thirty years.  I offer comprehensive private piano lessons as well as voice lessons for people of all types and interests.  I am an advocate for music.

I began my piano training with Nettie Mae Clement--co-founder of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music--at seven years of age and have been performing in public ever since. I have experience in all types of music and completed my training in 1992 with Performance and Academic Degrees from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and University of California, Berkeley. I taught both piano and voice for the cities of San Mateo and San Leandro for fourteen and eight years respectively.

My vocal training was completed at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under the direction of Hermann Le Roux and Sylvia Anderson. I have performed with San Francisco Opera, Oakland Opera and Berkeley Opera. I was soloist and section leader for Northbrae Community Church in Berkeley for three years. I have been a cantor at St. Bartholemew Church in San Mateo for over five years.  I have worked with conductors such as Michael Morgan and Kent Nagano with Berkeley Symphony, and the Luzern Orchestre in Switzerland when that country celebrated its 600 years anniversary.  I have worked with diverse groups such as the California Shakespeare Festival and Piedmont Light Opera.  Club and recording credits include Chris Isaak and the Dead Kennedys.

I have clientele on the peninsula and in the East Bay.  I have a studio in San Carlos.  I teach many students on line and can provide home instruction as well.  I start with classical technique, theory and repertoire and can include any popular style. I use the John Thompson Method, the Pendleton series and Hanon, Czerny, and Burgmuller sequences. The theory program I offer is approved by the American Music Teachers' and California Music Teachers' associations. It goes from Young Beginners all the way up to College and Conservatory levels.

In my vocal instruction I don't just coach and accompany, which is what most voice teachers do, if that.  I actually build voices and show you how to build your own voice.  I also repair damaged voices.  These skills are impossible to find at the rates I offer.  Most teachers that possess these skills normally charge hundreds of dollars a lesson and only work with trained professionals from organizations such as San Francisco Opera and Symphony Chorus.

Many of my students are affiliated with organizations such as Masterworks Chorale, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Ragazzi Boys Chorus and the Crowden and Nueva Schools.  My students have performed at Carnegie Hall, the American Conservatory Theater Main Stage and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.  My rates are reasonable and I encourage parents to sit in on their Childrens' lessons.  Instruction and tutoring in theory and harmony are available as well.  My roster of clients includes many families. I offer group lessons.

I can be contacted through Clocktower Music in San Carlos.  Rates and scheduling available upon request.
