CENTRAL MIDDLE SCHOOL -- INSTRUMENT SUPPLY LIST – 2013
All Band Students will need the following at the beginning of school:
* Correct Method Book(s) – listed below
* Folding Music Stand (for home practice - do not bring to school)
* Metronome-pocket size (for home practice - do not bring to school)
* Instrument Case with Name Tag
* Black 1-inch, 3-ring binder
* Set of 5 Dividers for binder
* Zipping Pencil Pouch – with 3 rings to go in music binder
* 5 Sharpened Pencils
* All specific instrument supplies, equipment and cleaning materials listed below
FLUTE

Supplies: Mouthpiece (comes with rental)

TRUMPET
All trumpets should have a 3rd valve ring and a 1st valve saddle

TROMBONE

Water Mister (small spray bottle), filled with water (make sure it doesn’t leak!)

BARITONE
Students will RENT two instruments from Central Middle School or Terra Linda for use at school and home.
The Baritone is very fun to play, but not fun to carry, so we eliminate that problem by having two.
Supplies: Mouthpiece Carrier for school/home transport
Slide Grease – 2 containers (1-home, 1-school)
Al Cass Valve Oil - 2 Bottles (1-home, 1-school)
Mouthpiece Brush (leave at home for cleaning)
Cleaning Snake (leave at home for cleaning)

PERCUSSION
Supplies: 8” practice pad (for home use)
2 1/2 Octave aluminum bells w/ portable stand (for home use)
Hard rubber bell mallets
Mike Balter Yarn Marimba Mallets – Hard or Medium (Both by 6th Grade)
Vic Firth SD1 General Snare Drum Sticks
Vic Firth T1 General Timpani Mallets
Stick/Mallet Bag (Vic Firth is good) with name tag or name labeled
Metronome (pocket-size, with an earplug plug-in spot)
Reed Recommendations for Clarinet and Saxophone:
Beginners, 5th Grade through Winter:
Clarinet: Mitchell Laurie 2.5 or Van Doren 2 Saxophone: Rico Royal 2 1/2 or Van Doren 2
5th Graders after Winter Break/In The Spring:
Clarinet: Mitchel Lurie 3s or Van Doren 2.5 Saxophone: Rico Royal 3 or Van Doren 2.5
6th Graders:

Concert Band Students who do not usually practice over 130 mins per week or who do not typically practice 4-5 times per week:

Concert Band Students who practice over 130 mins per week and practice 4-5 times or more per week or who are in Jazz Band:
